WEDNESDAY

The first time I heard Wednesday, I was over at a friend’s house just hanging out, doing the typical “throw music videos on YouTube while you talk” thing. That’s when my friend put on the video for “Bull Believer” off their album Rat Saw God. I was hooked. I had never quite heard anything like their music before. The rawness, not only in their sound but in their lyrics, felt like little goosebumps along my brain.

From there, I knew I needed to see this band live. The first time I saw and photographed them was at Mississippi Studios in 2023, at their sold-out show and honestly, I’ll always cherish experiencing them in such a small room. That same year, I caught them again at Pickathon in Happy Valley, this time on a main stage. Then fast forward to 2024, where they played Revolution Hall, and most recently in 2026, where they returned for two sold-out nights at the same venue. With each of these shows, you could see and hear the band's growth.

The albums they’ve toured, Rat Saw God and their newest release, Bleeds, feel like deeply personal storytelling experiences on their own. But hearing those songs live is something else entirely. You can feel how connected they are to what they’re playing, like they’re reliving it in real time. It’s this beautiful mix of feeling like you’re watching a DIY band in a garage, but surrounded by hundreds of people all locked into the same moment.

It’s easy to look back now and connect all those moments, but at the time, it just felt like another show, another night, another band worth paying attention to. From Mississippi Studios to two sold-out nights at Revolution Hall, the growth is obvious, but it still feels the same at its core. Just louder, and with more people finally listening.
